RESOLUTION NO. RS2015-1584

A resolution honoring Scot E. Copeland on his outstanding 30 year career as Producing Director of Nashville Children’s Theatre.

WHEREAS, Scot E. Copeland is celebrating his 30th anniversary as Producing Director of Nashville Children’s Theatre (NTC); and

WHEREAS, During his tenure at NCT, it has been both recognized as one of the very finest theatres for young audiences in the entire United States, as well as one of the best overall theatres in Nashville and the Mid-South; and

WHEREAS, While Scot’s leadership has built NCT a national reputation, the Company is truly a theatre for Nashville’s children exemplified by the plays produced; actors employed; and the rich diversity of community programs supported; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his career, he has directed over 50 productions and written more than 10 produced works; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Copeland has also been hugely influential on a national level through his leadership on the Boards of Directors of The Children’s Theatre Foundation of America and The International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People; and

WHEREAS, He has been a long time, tireless advocate in the local public arena for the arts, arts funding and arts education through his leadership in the Nashville Arts Coalition; and

WHEREAS, Scot Copeland and NCT have entertained, enriched, inspired, and impacted generations of young Nashvillians by providing magical, high quality theatre experiences for over three decades.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as congratulating Scot E. Copeland on his outstanding 30 year career as Producing Director of Nashville Children’s Theatre, and thanks him for enriching the lives of so very many young Nashvillians and their families.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this resolution to be presented to Scot E. Copeland and The Board of Director of Nashville Children’s Theatre.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
