RESOLUTION NO. RS2015-1523

A resolution authorizing the consumption of alcoholic beverages on certain premises between a convention center, a convention center hotel, and a museum attached to the convention center hotel.

WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee amended Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 57-4-102(27) regarding the consumption of alcoholic beverages in certain locations previously not allowed by law; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County seeks to implement a local version of this law, as contemplated in the state legislation; and,

WHEREAS, such implementation of the law requires approval of a resolution by majority vote in the local legislative body.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby authorizes the consumption of alcoholic beverages in manner and in the areas described in Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 57-4-102(27), specifically including only the area located between a convention center, its designated convention center hotel, and a museum that is attached to the convention center hotel; and the one (1) block of public roadway on Fifth Avenue between Demonbreun Street and Korean Veterans Boulevard.

Section 2. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
