RESOLUTION NO. RS2015-1497

A resolution recognizing the Nashville Sounds mascot, Booster, as the only rooster permitted in the urban areas of Nashville, Tennessee.

WHEREAS, Booster debuted as the Nashville Sounds new mascot on the opening night of First Tennessee Park; and

WHEREAS, while domesticated hens are permitted with certain conditions in Nashville, the Metropolitan Zoning Code expressly prohibits the keeping of roosters in the urban areas of Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council recognizes the public benefit of having Booster entertain fans at Sounds games and other community events in Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, in order to avoid protracted litigation, the Metropolitan Council deems it appropriate to officially recognize Booster as the only rooster permitted to reside in downtown Nashville.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Nashville Sounds mascot, Booster, as the only rooster permitted in the urban areas of Nashville, Tennessee.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to the Nashville Sounds.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
