RESOLUTION NO. RS2015-1480
A resolution recognizing Teacher Appreciation Week May 4th through May 8th, 2015 and Teacher Appreciation Day on Tuesday, May 5th, 2015.
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan National Education Association and the National Education Association have designated May 5th as National Teacher Appreciation Day, and the week in which May 5th falls as Teacher Appreciation Week; and
WHEREAS, this special week honors teachers and acknowledges their hard work and the positive impact they make in their students’ lives; and
WHEREAS, teachers work to open student’s minds to ideas, knowledge and dreams; and
WHEREAS, teachers keep American democracy alive by laying a firm foundation for good citizenship; and
WHEREAS, the dedicated men and women who have chosen education as a career here in the City of Nashville fill many roles, serving as listeners, role models, motivators, and mentors; and
WHEREAS, teachers spend countless hours outside their classrooms preparing lessons, evaluating progress, counseling and coaching students in after school activities; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize and observe May 5, 2015, as National Teacher Appreciation Day and May 4th through May 8th, 2015, as Teacher Appreciation Week in Tennessee and urge all citizens to pay tribute to our public, private and home-school teachers for their many contributions to the children of this state.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Teacher Appreciation Week May 4th through May 8th, 2015 and Teacher Appreciation Day on Tuesday, May 5th, 2015.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
