RESOLUTION NO. RS2015-1478

A resolution recognizing Reverend David Royalty upon the occasion of his 25th anniversary with First Baptist Church Joelton.

WHEREAS, Reverend David Royalty, who has faithfully served as pastor of First Baptist Church Joelton since 1990, is celebrating twenty-five years of continuous and faithful service to his flock, a milestone worthy of note; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Royalty had drawn from his education and wealth of experience during his years with the church to both support and inspire the church’s members and to move the church forward to keep pace with the diverse needs of today’s rapidly changing society; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Royalty’s commitment to God, his total allegiance to the infallibility of the Bible, his spiritual leadership and his love of his fellow man as demonstrated over the past twenty-five years of service is worthy of all due respect and admiration; and

WHEREAS, under the direction of Reverend Royalty, First Baptist Church Joelton has continually supported and grown its numerous outreach ministries, including The Jefferson Street Bridge Ministry, The Riverbend Prison Ministry, The Aphesis House Ministry, The La Espiga Mission in Durango, Mexico, College Student Campus Outreach, Good News Club at Joelton Elementary School, Christian Sportsmen Club, Christian Street Rodders Club, Upwards Basketball Program and many other ministerial opportunities; and

WHEREAS, under his leadership he spearheaded the building of a new state of the art sanctuary in 1999, the membership has now grown to 3000 with over 1350 souls being won for the Lord over the past twenty-five years, and the church budget continues to bless First Baptist Church Joelton with phenomenal growth; and

WHEREAS, also under the leadership of Pastor Royalty, First Baptist Church Joelton has “planted” several new churches including: “The 24 Church” in Pleasant View, “The New Season Church” in Whites Creek, and the “Barren Plains Hispanic Ministry” that ministers to Hispanic H2A workers who come from Mexico to harvest tobacco fields; and

WHEREAS, as pastor of First Baptist Church Joelton, Reverend Royalty’s integrity and compassion have become renown, escalating him to the position of being one of the most well-regarded members of the clergy in Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, originally bringing his wife Linda Carol Royalty and son Chris Royalty to serve with him, Reverend Royalty’s family has expanded over twenty-five years to include a lovely daughter-in-law (Erin) and five beautiful granddaughters named Grace, London, Violet, Savannah and Anniston; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Reverend David Royalty and that we join in congratulating, honoring and celebrating his 25th anniversary as pastor of First Baptist Church Joelton and wish him continued success in his ministry.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Reverend David Royalty upon the occasion of his 25th anniversary with First Baptist Church Joelton.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Reverend David Royalty.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
