RESOLUTION NO. RS2015-1447

A resolution approving an application for a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Office of the District Attorney General, to work with Hispanic victims of crimes, child homicide families, and child sexual and physical abuse victims who find the criminal justice system disorienting due to their language limitations and cultural understanding.

WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration, is accepting grant applications with an award of $474,948.00 and a required cash match of 118,737.00; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant application of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Office of the District Attorney General, to work with Hispanic victims of crimes, child homicide families, and child sexual and physical abuse victims who find the criminal justice system disorienting due to their language limitations and cultural understanding, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Office of the District Attorney General is authorized to submit said grant application to the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
