RESOLUTION NO. RS2015-1444

A resolution declaring April 16, 2015 as Meetings Industry Day in Nashville, Tennessee.

WHEREAS, face-to-face meetings help develop relationships and encourage collaboration in a way that technology cannot recreate or match; and

WHEREAS, Nashville has two major convention centers: the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center and the Music City Center; and

WHEREAS, meetings and conventions are a critical part of Nashville’s hospitality industry; and

WHEREAS, the industry that serves meetings has created thousands of jobs in Nashville and is a vital component of our economy; and

WHEREAS, every delegate that attends a meeting in Nashville spends an average of $280 per day; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Nashville’s meetings industry by declaring April 16, 2015 as Meetings Industry Day.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby declares April 16, 2015 as Meetings Industry Day in Nashville, Tennessee.

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
