RESOLUTION NO. RS2015-1422

A resolution approving an intergovernmental agreement by and between the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, regarding participation in the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, has entered into an intergovernmental agreement with the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (“ATF”) regarding participation in the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (“NIBIN”); and,

WHEREAS, participation in NIBIN will enhance the efforts of law enforcement to integrate resources to reduce firearms violence, identify shooters, and refer them for prosecution; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this intergovernmental agreement be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the intergovernmental agreement by and between the ATF and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, regarding participation in NIBIN, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
