RESOLUTION NO. RS2015-1349

A resolution accepting a donation of funds from the Cities of Service to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

WHEREAS, the Cities of Service challenged cities across the country to a Blueprint Contest to submit proposals for successful projects in their cities that offer necessary steps for cities to effectively partner with nonprofit and community-based organizations, leveraging citizen volunteers to measurably improve local life; and,

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is the grand prize winner of the Blueprint Contest for its strategy, titled “Storm Busters Blueprint”, to restore the health of waterways that were damaged with debris and erosion during historic flooding in May, 2010; and,

WHEREAS, the Cities of Service wishes to donate funds in the amount of $10,000.00 to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County as the winner of the Blueprint Contest; and,

WHEREAS, a copy of the donation letter from the Cities of Service is attached hereto and incorporated herein; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this donation be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the donation of funds in the amount of $10,000.00 by the Cities of Service to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, pursuant to the donation letter attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That the funds received by the Metropolitan Government pursuant to the attached donation letter shall be appropriated to the Mayor’s Office.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
