RESOLUTION NO. RS2015-1337

A resolution approving an application for a Public Art Challenge Grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Arts Commission, to grow professional opportunities for artists while managing neighborhood affordability through the THRIVE micro-funding program.

WHEREAS, Bloomberg Philanthropies is accepting applications for a Public Art Challenge Grant, with an award of $665,000.00 and a required cash match of $415,694.66; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the application for a Public Art Challenge Grant, with an award of $665,000.00, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Arts Commission is authorized to submit said application to Bloomberg Philanthropies.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
