A resolution requesting the Davidson County Election Commission to provide five additional early voting sites for the May 2014 primary election, and expressing the Council’s intent to provide up to $60,000 in supplemental funding for the Election Commission to cover the cost of providing the additional early voting sites.

WHEREAS, pursuant to T.C.A. § 2-6-103, the county election commission is responsible for providing at least one early voting site not more than twenty (20) days nor less than five (5) days before the day of the election to enable voters to vote early; and

WHEREAS, the Davidson County Election Commission currently plans to provide one early voting site at the Fulton Complex for the May 2014 county primary election; and

WHEREAS, constituents have raised concerns regarding whether one early voting site for the entire county is sufficient to ensure voters are given adequate opportunity to vote early in the May 2014 county primary; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council is in support of the Davidson County Election Commission providing five additional early voting sites for five days each, and desires to express its intent to fund the early voting sites up to $60,000 through a supplemental appropriation in the Spring of 2014.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
