RESOLUTION NO. RS2014-981

A resolution approving an interlocal agreement by and between The City of Brentwood and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Department of Public Works, for a regional traffic management study and traffic signal optimization effort on several intersections within Southern Davidson County and Williamson County City of Brentwood under the Surface Transportation Program.

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, and The City of Brentwood seek to enter into an interlocal agreement for a regional traffic management study and traffic signal optimization effort on several intersections within Southern Davidson County and Williamson County City of Brentwood; and,

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is required to provide study oversight and coordination with City of Brentwood on the regional traffic study and traffic signal optimization effort on several intersections within Southern Davidson County and Williamson County City of Brentwood; and,

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County’s matching share of 20% is $38,250 for a regional traffic management study and traffic signal optimization effort at several intersections within Southeast Davison County; and,

WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Sections 12-9-101, et seq., 12-9-104(b), and 12-3-1009 authorize The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to enter into intergovernmental agreements by resolution; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this intergovernmental agreement be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That an interlocal agreement by and between The City Brentwood, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Department of Public Works, for a regional traffic management study and traffic signal optimization effort on several intersections within Southern Davidson County and Williamson County City of Brentwood, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That The Metropolitan Government pursuant to this interlocal agreement shall be authorized to maintain and operate signal optimizations improvements on several intersections within Southern Davidson County.

Section 3. Any amendments, renewals, or extension of the terms of the agreement may be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council.

Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
