RESOLUTION NO. RS2014-960

A resolution recognizing the 2013 UNA Bears CCC Football Team.

WHEREAS, the UNA Bears CCC Football Team is compiled of seven and eight year olds based out of the UNA Recreation Center and are members of the Mid-State Youth Football League; and

WHEREAS, these fine young athletes are to be commended for their performance and sportsmanship as they completed a successful season of football competition in posting an impressive record of 12 wins and 2 losses by striving to improve every day and working as a team; and

WHEREAS, the UNA Bears CCC Football Team participated in the 15th Annual Choo-Choo Bowl in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where they defeated the Hillcrest Patriots with a score of 26-6 to win the 2013 Choo-Choo Bowl National Championship in their division; and

WHEREAS, members of this remarkable team are: Jamari Person, Isaiah Brown, K’Quinn Donald, Mose Phillips, Leland Taylor, Shivan Abdullah, Mario Marshall, Sean Johnson, Joshua Smith, Trey Woods, Bryson True, Douglas Williams, Joshua Williams, Raymond Marsh, Jonathon Bowden, Jason Valentine, Antonio Clark, Tyler Gollette, Jayden Jackson, Jeremiah Sowell, Allon Jones, Isaiah Bell, Malik King, and Jerran Jackson whose dedication, determination and performance made possible a championship season; and

WHEREAS, the team was led by Head Coach Lyorant Turner and Assistant Coaches, Daniel Conroy, Bryan Williams, Bryan Lowe, Louis Applewhite, and David Smith who are to be commended for their commitment in providing leadership and direction; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the UNA Bears CCC football team and coaches on their outstanding 2013 season.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the 2013 UNA Bears CCC Football Team.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Head Coach Lyorant Turner, the assistant coaches and the players of the UNA Bears CCC Football Team.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
