RESOLUTION NO. RS2014-959

A resolution recognizing the 2013 UNA Bears BBB Football Team.

WHEREAS, the UNA Bears BBB Football Team is compiled of nine and ten year olds based out of the UNA Recreation Center and are members of the Mid-State Youth Football League; and

WHEREAS, these fine young athletes are to be commended for their performance and sportsmanship as they completed a successful season of football competition in posting an impressive record of 16 wins and 0 losses by striving to improve every day and working as a team; and

WHEREAS, the UNA Bears BBB Football Team participated in the 45th Annual Snapper Bowl Thanksgiving Classic in Panama City, Florida where they defeated North Paulding, Georgia with a score of 20-19 to win the 2013 Snapper Bowl championship in their division; and

WHEREAS, members of this remarkable team are: Quenten Barnes, Jalen Macon, Elijah Smith, Jordan James, Antonio Lee, Amir Annoor, Joe King, Jamri Sowell, William Edmondson, James Reed, Ryan Oliver, Xayvion Bean, Josiah Kinslow, Kenneth Beard, Harold Douglas, Corey Dowell, Damon Owens, Marcus Kennedy-Holt, Toleo Malone, Josiah Jackson, Cam’Rynn Pleasant, Marquise Woodson and Jalen Baugh whose dedication, determination and performance made possible a championship season; and

WHEREAS, the team was led by Head Coach Rod Sims, and Assistant Coaches, Ira Covington, Antoine Owens, Shawn Brashers, Marcus Perry, and Carl Hayes who are to be commended for their commitment in providing leadership and direction; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the UNA Bears BBB football team and coaches on their outstanding 2013 season.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the 2013 UNA Bears BBB Football Team.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Head Coach Rod Sims, the assistant coaches and the players of the UNA Bears BBB Football Team.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
