RESOLUTION NO. RS2014-1313

A resolution amending Resolution No. RS2014-1215 to specify that the appropriation of two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000.00) as a contribution to the National League of Cities is to be appropriated to the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation to assist with the local preparations necessary for the 2015 National League of Cities convention.

WHEREAS, Resolution No. RS2014-1215 appropriated two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000.00) from the undesignated fund balance of the General Fund of the General Services District to a certain account as a contribution for the National League of Cities; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council adopted Resolution No. RS2012-477 requesting The National League of Cities to hold its 2015 Annual Congress of Cities and Exposition (hereinafter referred to as “the Convention”) in Nashville, Tennessee, and further pledged its support in the hosting of the event; and

WHEREAS, the National League of Cities regularly relies on its host cities to assist with local preparations related to the Convention; and

WHEREAS, it is the regular business of the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation to provide the local preparations for visiting conventions and the Metropolitan Government currently contracts with the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation to provide services that brand, sell and market Nashville, Music City, to the world as a premier entertainment destination for leisure and convention experiences; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council desires to amend the original appropriation by designating the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation as the recipient of the appropriation to assist with the local preparations necessary for the 2015 National League of Cities convention.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: That Resolution No. RS2014-1215 is hereby amended by amending Section 1 by deleting the designation “National League of Cities – Contribution” and substituting with the designation “Nashville Convention & Visitors Corporation – 2015 National League of Cities Convention”.

Section 2: That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
