RESOLUTION NO. RS2014-1270
A resolution amending the pay plan for the general employees of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County approved under Resolution RS2014-1127, by changing the salaries for the positions of Mayor, Vice Mayor, and members of the Metropolitan County Council.
WHEREAS, a pay plan was adopted for the general employees of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by passage of Resolution No. RS2014-1127; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §18.05 of the Metropolitan Charter the salaries paid to the Mayor, Vice Mayor, and members of the Metropolitan County Council may be changed by the Metropolitan County Council as a part of the general pay plan; and,
WHEREAS, the salaries for the positions of Mayor, Vice Mayor, and members of the Metropolitan County Council have not been changed since 2003; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. BL2013-360, the Metropolitan Department of Human Resources was directed to conduct a compensation and benefits study for the Mayor, Vice Mayor, and members of the Metropolitan Council to determine whether and to what extent the salaries of these positions should be modified; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Department of Human Resources, with the assistance of Deloitte Consultants, LLP, has conducted the required compensation and benefits study and determined the appropriate salary adjustments that should be made for these positions; and,
WHEREAS, these recommendations have been presented to and considered by the Civil Service Commission; and,
WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission has agreed and recommended that the salary adjustments should be made; and,
WHEREAS, it will be necessary to amend the pay plan created by Resolution No. RS2014-1127 to provide for these changes in salaries; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to §18.05 of the Metropolitan Charter the salaries of the Mayor, Vice Mayor and members of the Metropolitan County Council shall not be increased or diminished during the period for which they shall have been elected; and,
WHEREAS, the salaries proposed by this legislation would not become effective until the beginning of the new elective term for each position.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The pay plan for the general employees of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, established by Resolution No. RS 2014-1127 is amended as follows:
a. The annual salary for the position of Mayor shall be $180,000.
b. The annual salary for the position of Vice Mayor shall be $22,500.
c. The annual salary for the position of member of the Metropolitan County Council shall be $20,600.
The changes in compensation approved by this resolution shall be effective on the first day of the next elective term for each position.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
