RESOLUTION NO. RS2014-1237

A resolution approving amendment two to the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department, previously entered into a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant agreement with the U.S Department of Homeland Security, to pay all salary and benefits for 35 new firefighters for two years approved by RS2012-384; and,

WHEREAS, the parties wish to extend the grant end date to December 31, 2014, a copy of which amendment two is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that amendment two be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That amendment two to the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant by and between the U. S. Department of Homeland Security and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department, to pay all salary and benefits for 35 new firefighters for two years, a copy of which amendment two is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. This this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
