RESOLUTION NO. RS2014-1188

A resolution recognizing the Little Creek Community Club in Northern Davidson County.

WHEREAS, focused on community service the Little Creek Community Club, originally the Beech Grove Ladies Aid, began in a one room schoolhouse built in 1937, for the purpose of having a place where farmers and their families could get together after working in the fields; and

WHEREAS, the Beech Grove Ladies Aid transferred the property to the Little Creek Community Club, July 31, 1971, brings neighbors of all ages and backgrounds together who are dedicated to building a better neighborhood through fellowship, goodwill and community service; and

WHEREAS, serving as officers are George Huff, 54 years as President; Gene Parrish, Vice President; Shirley Ray, Treasurer and Shelly Exum, Secretary; and

WHEREAS, the Little Creek Community Club meets the fourth Friday of the month to discuss club business and community needs; and

WHEREAS, since its inception, the Little Creek Community Club has supported the well-being of their citizens through a wide variety of worthy projects, has worked countless hours to make their community a vibrant and compassionate place where every resident can be proud and through their service made their community a better place to live and work; and

WHEREAS, the Little Creek Community Club was known community wide for their special Field Day event, where the entire neighborhood came together for a barbeque, live music and square dancing, and today the club serves as a gathering place for numerous activities; and

WHEREAS, members volunteer at the Hope Center, a women’s shelter in Nashville, deliver fruit baskets to shut-ins during Christmas, and are having yard sales to raise money for a young child who has had multiple surgeries; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize the Little Creek Community Club and wish them much continued success in their future endeavors.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Little Creek Community Club in Northern Davidson County.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. George Huff on behalf of the Little Creek Community Club.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
