RESOLUTION NO. RS2014-1187

A resolution recognizing the Cane Ridge Community Club located in South Nashville.

WHEREAS, focused on community service the Cane Ridge Community Club is composed of individuals of all ages and backgrounds who are dedicated to building a better community through fellowship, goodwill and service; and

WHEREAS, the Cane Ridge Community Club located at 6043 Cane Ridge Road, in Antioch meets on the first Monday of each month. A covered dish supper is served at 7:00 p.m., followed by a business meeting, and concluding with an informational or educational program; and

WHEREAS, the Cane Ridge Community Club building is used for numerous activities and events, including the Cremona Strings Group, a volunteer organization, who meets to rehearse upcoming concerts around the Nashville area; and

WHEREAS Girl Scout Troops, 1584, 362, and 2337, are now meeting regularly at the Community Center on Friday and Sunday evenings, and along with their Scout leaders and parents have supported the club with their help in decorating for December; and

WHEREAS, there is a game night where the members meet for games and snacks, and a general time for fun and camaraderie; and

WHEREAS, the Club, organized before 1920, has been meeting on a regular basis since 1951, when the Cane Ridge School was closed and is now operated under the guidance of the Davidson County Agricultural Office; and

WHEREAS, there are no Club dues, or roll call, and those in attendance are not required to sign the register of attendance and everyone in the community is invited to attend and participate in club activities; and

WHEREAS, the highest grade of teamwork is important to the Club, as well as a wish to serve, as demonstrated in their slogan: "Creating a better future for Cane Ridge"; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize the Cane Ridge Community Club and wish them much continued success in their future endeavors.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Cane Ridge Community Club.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mrs. Mary Jane Hurt on behalf of the Cane Ridge Community Club.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
