RESOLUTION NO. RS2014-1135

A resolution approving a contract by and between The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Election Systems & Software, LLC, for the lease of voting equipment.

WHEREAS, section 5.04.020 of the Metropolitan Code provides that all leases of equipment shall be approved by resolution of the Metropolitan Council if the annual expenditure for the lease exceeds five thousand dollars ($5,000); and,

WHEREAS, the annual expenditure to lease voting equipment for use by the Davidson County Election Commission, pursuant to the attached contract with Election Systems & Software, LLC, will exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000); and,

WHEREAS, Election Systems & Software, LLC, is the sole manufacturer of the iVotronic voting machines, certified for use in the State of Tennessee; and,

WHEREAS, lease of the voting machines from Election Systems & Software, LLC, will ensure compatibility with the Davidson County Election Commission’s current voting machines; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this contract be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the contract between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Election Systems & Software, LLC, for the lease of voting equipment, attached hereto, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
