RESOLUTION NO. RS2014-1134

A resolution approving an AmeriCorps Vista grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Social Services Commission, for AmeriCorps program participants to perform volunteer services to strengthen and supplement efforts to eliminate poverty, social, and environmental problems.

WHEREAS, the Corporation for National and Community Service in conjunction with the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Social Services Commission, will each cost-share an amount not to exceed $11,136.00 for AmeriCorps program participants to perform volunteer services to strengthen and supplement efforts to eliminate poverty, social, and environmental problems; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the AmeriCorps Vista grant by and between the Corporation for National and Community Service and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Community Education Commission, will each cost-share up to $11,136.00 for AmeriCorps program participants to perform volunteer services to strengthen and supplement efforts to eliminate poverty, social, and environmental problems, copy of which grant is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this grant be appropriated to the Metropolitan Social Services Commission, based on revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Amendment No. 1

Madam President:

I move to amend Resolution No. RS2014-1134 as follows:

1. By deleting Section 1 in its entirety and replacing it with the following:

“Section 1. That the AmeriCorps Vista grant by and between the Corporation for National and Community Service and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Social Services Commission, where each will cost-share up to $11,136.00 for AmeriCorps program participants to perform volunteer services to strengthen and supplement efforts to eliminate poverty, social, and environmental problems, copy of which grant is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.”
