RESOLUTION NO. RS2014-1107

A resolution appropriating $1,089,500 in Community Development Block Grant funds for sidewalk improvements in North Nashville.

WHEREAS, by Resolution Nos. RS2013-809 and RS2014-1049, the Metropolitan Council approved the Substantial Amendment to the 2013 Annual Action Plan for Housing and Community Development and 2014 Annual Action Plan, respectively, (“Action Plans”), which included the approval of certain activities utilizing 2013 and 2014 Community Development Block Grant (“CDBG”) funds; and

WHEREAS, the Action Plans allocated a total amount of $1,089,500 for infrastructure improvements in commercial and residential areas in North Nashville; and

WHEREAS, sidewalk improvements in residential areas will be primarily in the vicinity of Albion and Alameda Streets between 25th and 32nd Avenues North, as well as the south side of Seifried Street (between 24th and 25th Avenues) and the east side of 24th Avenue from Lacy Street to Clarksville Pike; and

WHEREAS, sidewalk improvements in commercial areas will be primarily along the north side of Rosa L. Parks Boulevard between Great Circle Road and Mainstream Road; and

WHEREAS, the project is ready to begin expenditure of CDBG funds.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (“MDHA”) is authorized to expend up to $1,089,500 in Community Development Block Grant funds for construction and related costs for sidewalk improvements in North Nashville as follows:

2013 CDBG funds: Up to $750,000
2014 CDBG funds: Up to $339,500.

Section 2. Plans and specifications for sidewalk improvements will be on file at the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency’s Construction Department.

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
