RESOLUTION NO. RS2014-1093

A resolution approving amendment one to a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, for enhanced DUI enforcement patrols to reduce the number of traffic crashes and fatalities that occur as a result of impaired driving.

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, previously entered into a grant agreement with the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, for enhanced DUI enforcement patrols to reduce the number of traffic crashes and fatalities that occur as a result of impaired driving approved by RS2013-933; and,

WHEREAS, amendment one increases the amount of the grant by $400,000.00 with no cash match required for a new grant total of $799,089.55, a copy of which amendment one is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that amendment one be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That amendment one to the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, to provide enhanced DUI enforcement patrols to reduce traffic crashes and fatalities that occur as a result of impaired driving, a copy of which amendment one is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
