RESOLUTION NO. RS2014-1061

A resolution declaring May 1, 2014, as Ann Teaff Day in the City of Nashville.

WHEREAS, on June 30, 2014, Head of School Ann Teaff, will retire having served with distinction for 16 years at The Harpeth Hall School; and

WHEREAS, while serving as Head of School, Ms. Teaff’s visionary leadership and unshakeable commitment to the pursuit of educational excellence for girls transformed Harpeth Hall into one of the country’s premier independent schools; and

WHEREAS, during her tenure she led capital and annual fund campaigns that raised more than $87 million dollars to build exceptional educational facilities and programs to prepare students for the 21st century, to provide financial assistance for Middle Tennessee’s best and brightest girls, and to recruit outstanding faculty devoted to the school’s mission; and

WHEREAS, Head of School Ann Teaff is to be commended for her tireless efforts to educate young women to think critically, to lead confidently, and to live honorably and upon her retirement at the end of the school year, she will sorely be missed by her students and staff not only as the Head of School but for her leadership in developing innovative programs; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Head of School Ann Teaff and join the students and staff of Harpeth Hall in naming May 1, 2014 as Ann Teaff Day in the City of Nashville.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as declaring May 1, 2014, as Ann Teaff Day in the City of Nashville.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Head of School Ann Teaff.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
