RESOLUTION NO. RS2013-849

A resolution approving an application for a Southeast Regional Training Center Grant for the Gang Resistance Education and Training Program (GREAT) from the United States Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, to continue implementing officer training and certification.

Whereas, the United States Department of Justice is accepting applications for a Regional Training Center Grant for the Gang Resistance Education and Training Program (GREAT) to continue implementing officer training and certification, with an award of $325,000.00 with no cash match required; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the application for a Regional Training Center Grant for the Gang Resistance Education and Training Program (GREAT) with an award of $325,000.00, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is authorized to submit said application to the United States Department of Justice.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
