RESOLUTION NO. RS2013-819

A resolution approving an intergovernmental agreement between the State of Massachusetts, by and through the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, establishing a research relationship.

WHEREAS, the intergovernmental agreement between the University of Massachusetts Lowell and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, attached hereto and incorporated herein, establishes a research relationship related to a study of sexual violence case attrition in jurisdictions across the United States; and,

WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated Section 12-9-104 provides that Intergovernmental Agreements may be approved by Resolution; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this intergovernmental agreement be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the intergovernmental agreement by and between the State of Massachusetts, by and through the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, establishing a research relationship, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
