RESOLUTION NO. RS2013-811

A resolution accepting an Art Works Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission.

WHEREAS, the National Endowment for the Arts has awarded an Art Works Grant in an amount not to exceed $25,000.00 with a required cash match of $44,245.00, and an in-kind match of $14,400.00 to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission, to create a public art work, companion education guide, and teacher training program for Edmondson Park in conjunction with the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency, the Oasis Center, Metropolitan Nashville Parks and Recreation Department, and Lipscomb University; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Art Works Grant by and between the National Endowment for the Arts and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission, to create a public art work, companion education guide, and teacher training program for Edmondson Park in conjunction with the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency, the Oasis Center, Metropolitan Nashville Parks and Recreation Department, and Lipscomb University, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That the amount of this grant be appropriated to the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
