RESOLUTION NO. RS2013-795

A resolution approving amendment one to a grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Health, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to provide school based oral disease prevention services to those children who qualify for TennCare.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, previously entered into a grant agreement with the State of Tennessee, Department of Health, to provide school based oral disease prevention services to those children who qualify for TennCare approved by RS2011-1695; and,

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend the grant agreement to comply with a legislative change allowing auxiliary dental personnel to assist in dental evaluations, sealant screenings, fluoride varnish, and sealant application for school children in grades K-8 attending qualifying public schools, a copy of which amendment one is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that amendment one be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That amendment one to the grant by and between the State of Tennessee, Department of Health, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to provide school based oral disease prevention services to those children who qualify for TennCare, a copy of which amendment one is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
