RESOLUTION NO. RS2013-766

A resolution recognizing Tuesday, August 6, 2013, as Nashville’s Night Out Against Crime.

WHEREAS, the “30th Annual National Night Out”, is a unique nationwide crime/drug prevention event that will take place on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, with thousands of communities participating throughout the United States; and

WHEREAS, this event is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for and participation in local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back; and

WHEREAS, Nashville’s Night Out Against Crime events will bring citizens, law enforcement agencies, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from across the City to join forces in promoting cooperative police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie, and the importance of crime prevention programs; and

WHEREAS, this event plays a vital role in allowing the citizens of Davidson County to become aware of the importance and the impact that their participation can have on reducing crime, drugs and violence in their neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Nashville’s Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, and encourage all citizens of Davidson County to observe this event by participating in activities in their neighborhoods.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Tuesday, August 6, 2013, as Nashville’s Night Out Against Crime.

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
