RESOLUTION NO. RS2013-743

A resolution extending the free metered parking programs for clean technology vehicles and for vehicle owners that purchase carbon offsets.

WHEREAS, Substitute Ordinance Nos. BL2010-734 and BL2010-825, as amended, established a free metered parking program for clean technology vehicles and for vehicle owners that purchase carbon offsets; and

WHEREAS, Substitute Ordinance Nos. BL2010-734 and BL2010-825 each included a “sunset” provision stating that the provisions of the ordinances pertaining to the issuance of parking stickers for clean technology vehicles and carbon offset vehicles shall expire and be null and void on June 30, 2013, unless extended by resolution of the Council of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council desires to indefinitely extend the free metered parking program for clean technology vehicles and for vehicle owners that purchase carbon offsets in furtherance of the Council’s commitment to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the provisions of Section 12.44.075 and 12.44.080 of the Metropolitan Code are hereby extended indefinitely unless and until modified or repealed by an ordinance duly enacted by the Metropolitan County Council.

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
