RESOLUTION NO. RS2013-687

A resolution recognizing In Full Motion.

WHEREAS, Coach Maurice Fitzgerald, Sr. founded a non-profit organization called In Full Motion which seeks to address the academic problems that plague inner city students and schools, including low passage rates on high school exit exams, low scores on college entrance exams, and staggering high school drop-out rates; and

WHEREAS, Coach Maurice Fitzgerald, Sr., founder and educator and Cynthia Fitzgerald, are exceptional motivators and mentors who saw too many times students falling victim to dropping out of high school and eventually to crime and even a good portion of students that made it to graduation didn't have the minimum requirements to attend college and to address this ongoing epidemic, In Full Motion, (IFM) was formed in 2005; and

WHEREAS, In Full Motion primarily helps inner-city and disadvantaged students prepare for and pay for the ACT/SAT test to assure that every student has the opportunity to graduate high school and attend the college, trade school, or university of their choice, and In Full Motion also provides college tours, academic tutoring, mentoring, scholarship assistance and educational services for parents; and

WHEREAS, In Full Motion, a non-profit organization, is committed to serving and providing assistance to young inner city/at risk youth in achieving the goal of becoming a productive citizen, who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to advance their educational futures while empowering these young people with the necessary tools to be successful; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes In Full Motion for the great service they have provided and continue to provide the youth of the City of Nashville.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing In Full Motion.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Coach Maurice Fitzgerald, President and CEO and Cynthia Fitzgerald, Vice President.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
