RESOLUTION NO. RS2013-661

A resolution approving an agreement between the United States Department of the Army and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for Phase 4 of the Flood Preparedness Study in Davidson County, Tennessee.

WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County seeks to lessen the negative impacts of flooding in Davidson County, Tennessee; and,

WHEREAS, the United States Department of the Army is actively involved in the Metropolitan Government’s Flood Preparedness Study; and,

WHEREAS, the United States Department of the Army and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County have determined that Phase 4 of the Flood Preparedness Study is needed to complete the Flood Preparedness Study; and,

WHEREAS, Phase 4 of the Flood Preparedness Study will provide more detailed modeling and includes additional model development and documentation, meetings, review and coordination of new data, and field work such as additional stream cross sections and elevation verification for secondary tributaries; and,

WHEREAS, the agreement provides that the United States Department of the Army and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County will jointly fund the cost based on the scope of the Study; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that the agreement be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the agreement between the United States Department of the Army and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, reflecting Phase 4 of the Flood Preparedness Study, a copy of which agreement is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is approved and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
