RESOLUTION NO. RS2013-615

A resolution recognizing Project Homeless Connect 2013.

WHEREAS, Davidson County is committed to ending homelessness; and

WHEREAS, on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, Davidson County held its fifth annual Project Homeless Connect event at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds; and

WHEREAS, Project Homeless Connect, hosted and coordinated by the Metropolitan Homelessness Commission, is a way of bringing together service providers, community members and homeless individuals to connect them to much needed services and raise awareness about homelessness in Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, the Project Homeless Connect event brought together more than 80 service providers – everything from medical, dental and vision care, legal services, employment and housing assistance, free phone calls home, food, toiletries, and more – in an effort to provide one stop access to a broad range of services for people who are homeless or on the brink of homelessness; and

WHEREAS, Project Homeless Connect is made possible because of the tremendous work of the Metropolitan Homelessness Commission’s staff and the collaborative efforts of the dedicated service providers and volunteers who make this event happen and to have such an incredibly successful event that is truly making a difference in the lives of our city’s homeless population; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the needs of the homeless as well as to reaffirm the value of providing services to our fellow Nashvillians.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Project Homeless Connect 2013.

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
