RESOLUTION NO. RS2013-612

A resolution honoring the life of Clarence C. Hurt.

WHEREAS, on December 4th, 2012, Nashville and Davidson County lost a respected public servant in the passing of Clarence C. Hurt ,a man of great integrity; and

WHEREAS, Clarence C. Hurt was born in 1937 and raised in Davidson County, Tennessee; he graduated from Donelson High school, and is survived by his wife of 53 years Mary Jane Hurt, his daughter, Lisa Maxson, and Kyle and Kelly Maxson, his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Clarence C. Hurt served the community by working on the Metro Nashville Fire Department and retired after 43 years of service as a District Fire Chief; and

WHEREAS, Clarence C. Hurt was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church for over 50 years, serving as Chairman of the Trustees and other leadership positions, and worked tirelessly, helping support various community projects such as the Fall Festival at the Church that has raised over $300,000 over the last 25 years for their Missions program; and

WHEREAS, Clarence C. Hurt was a member of the Cane Ridge Community Club for over 35 years and supported the activities of the Club with both his time and commitment to making the Cane Ridge Community a better place to live for all; and

WHEREAS, Clarence C. Hurt was a member of Davidson County Farm Bureau serving on the Board of Directors and was a voting Delegate to the State Farm Bureau; and

WHEREAS, those who knew Clarence C. Hurt will long miss his presence and guidance as he will be remembered with great affection and admiration; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council remembers the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being, reflect upon his impeccable character and commitment to Nashville and Davidson County and express our condolences to the family upon the occasion of his untimely passing.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring the life of Clarence C. Hurt.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to the family of the late Clarence C. Hurt.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
