RESOLUTION NO. RS2013-605

A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Department of Law to compromise and settle the Metropolitan Government’s personal injury claim against Donna Pippins.

WHEREAS, on December 31, 2011, a Metropolitan Police Department vehicle operated by Officer Jacob Paul was traveling north on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard when the vehicle in which he was riding was struck in the front by a southbound vehicle operated by Donna Pippins, resulting in personal injury to Officer Paul; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government incurred costs related to the medical treatment of Officer Paul; and,

WHEREAS, after investigation, the Department of Law believes that the settlement listed in Section 1 is fair and reasonable and in the best interest of the Metropolitan Government and recommends that the Metropolitan Government accept payment in the amount of $9,325.68.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: The Metropolitan Department of Law is authorized to compromise and settle its claim against Donna Pippins in an amount totaling $9,325.68, which shall be deposited into an appropriate fund and account as determined by the Department of Finance.

Section 2: This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
