RESOLUTION NO. RS2012-523

A resolution authorizing the Director of Public Property, or his designee, to exercise an option to purchase real property for use as park land (2013M-001PR-001).

WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of the document attached as Exhibit A and incorporated by reference into this resolution, the Metropolitan Government has obtained an option to purchase a parcel of real property (the “Property”) comprising approximately 600 acres; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to Metropolitan Code of Laws § 2.24.250(F), the Metropolitan Council may authorize by resolution the purchase of real property through the exercise of an option such as Exhibit A; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation has recommended the purchase of the Property; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of Nashville and Davidson County to approve the purchase of the Property.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Director of Public Property, or his designee, is hereby authorized to exercise the option (Exhibit A) to purchase the Property and to execute such other documents as may be necessary to effect the transaction.

Section 2. The Property shall be placed under the administration of the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
