RESOLUTION NO. RS2012-482

A resolution recognizing Ruth S. Currie on her accomplishments in the field of cheerleading.

WHEREAS, Ruth Currie, renowned for her prowess in the world of competitive cheerleading, has more than 15 years of cheer coaching experience in the Middle Tennessee area; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Currie begins her second season as the cheerleading coach at Cumberland University, she continues her role as the Cheerleading President of the Mid-State Youth Football and Cheerleading League; and

WHEREAS, prior to taking over as the Cheer Director, Currie spent seven years coaching young girls technique, execution of stunts and skills needed to compete, in which many of her squads have gone on to win local, state and national competitions; and

WHEREAS, her knowledge, leadership, and work ethic has been a positive influence on many young girls whom she has worked with and who have gone on to cheer at the middle school, high school and college level; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Ruth Currie for her passion, hard work and commitment in coaching and wish her every continued success in her future endeavors.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Ruth S. Currie on her accomplishments in the field of cheerleading.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Ruth Currie, Cheer Director for Una Bears Football and Recreation Program at Una Park.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
