RESOLUTION NO. RS2012-475

A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Department of Law to compromise and settle the claim of the Estate of Mavis Combs, Vicki Spurlock, Mary Shawhan, William Patterson, and Mavis Lew against the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County in the amount of $67,618.80, and that said amount be paid out of the Judgments and Losses Fund.

WHEREAS, Mavis Combs was an employee of the Metropolitan Government for over thirty years and her family filed a claim asserting that she was entitled to a pension benefit; and,

WHEREAS, after investigation, the Department of Law believes the settlement listed in Section 1 is fair and reasonable and in the best interest of the Metropolitan Government, and recommends that the claim be compromised and settled for $67,618.80, and that this amount be paid from the Judgments and Losses Fund; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1: The Metropolitan Department of Law is authorized to compromise and settle the claim of the Estate of Mavis Combs, Vicki Spurlock, Mary Shawhan, William Patterson, and Mavis Lew for the sum of $67,618.80 with said amount to be paid from the Judgments and Losses Fund.

Section 2: This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
