RESOLUTION NO. RS2012-462

A resolution supporting the submission of a proposal to the National Association of Counties requesting that the City of Nashville, Tennessee be chosen to host the 2016, 2017 or 2018 Annual Conference and Exposition.

WHEREAS, the National Association of Counties (NACo) was created in 1935 to represent and advocate on behalf of county governments in the United States of America; and,

WHEREAS, NACo provides legislative, research, technical, and public affairs assistance to its members; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is one of the 2000 counties that are currently members of NACo; and,

WHEREAS, NACo holds an annual conference and exposition that is jointly hosted by the organization and a member county; and,

WHEREAS, NACo has issued a Request for Proposal to host the 2016, 2017 or 2018 Annual Conference and Exposition, each expected to attract an estimated attendance of 4200 visitors; and,

WHEREAS, to fulfill the requirements of the proposal, the Metropolitan Council must go on record in support of a bid by Nashville to co-host the 2016, 2017 or 2018 NACo Annual Conference and Exposition.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as supporting a proposal to be submitted by the Office of the Mayor requesting that Nashville be chosen as the host city for the 2016, 2017 or 2018 NACo Annual Conference and Exposition.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to the Office of the Mayor to be submitted with the proposal.

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
