RESOLUTION NO. RS2012-406

A resolution recognizing the Friends of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt celebrating 40 years of existence this year.

WHEREAS, on September 13, 2012, the Friends of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt will come together to celebrate 40 years of providing volunteer support to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, the organization continues to grow and be strong; and

WHEREAS, the Friends of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt was founded in 1972 by a group of mothers who saw a need for families to have extra support while in the hospital; and

WHEREAS, providing needs like blankets, toiletries, and snacks for families was the intent of the founding members; and

WHEREAS, Friends of Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is a volunteer organization of members supporting the mission of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and other pediatric health care initiatives through fundraising, community awareness and services to the patients and their families along with the faculty and staff of Children’s Hospital; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the Friends of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt celebrating 40 years and the tremendous impact and commitment to children’s health, and offer our best wishes for future success in the efforts of support to Children’s Hospital’s mission through fundraising, community awareness and services to the hospital’s patients and their families.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Friends of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt celebrating 40 years of existence this year.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Alice Essary, President of Friends of Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt on behalf of the organization.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
