RESOLUTION NO. RS2012-405

A resolution recognizing Chaplain Tim Eldred on being named National Sheriff’s Association Chaplain of the Year 2012.

WHEREAS, The National Sheriff’s Association announced that Chaplain Tim Eldred, of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, and resident of Nashville, Tennessee, has been selected as the recipient of the 2012 Chaplain of the Year; and

WEHREAS, Chaplain Eldred was presented with this honor on Monday, June 18, 2012 at the National Sheriff’s Association Annual Conference held in Nashville, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, the National Sheriff’s Association Chaplain of the Year is bestowed upon one whose encouragement and dedication go above and beyond in helping officers cope with the daily pressures, needs and stress of their job, and the toll that is placed on their everyday lives; and

WHEREAS, Chaplain Eldred, ordained into the gospel ministry in 1974 by the First Baptist Church, Bishop, Texas, is instrumental in the founding of the Christian Law Enforcement Summit which was established to offer law enforcement officers and their families, a place of encouragement, support, and spiritual training; and

WHEREAS, for over ten years, Chaplain Tim Eldred’s outstanding spiritual leadership, understanding guidance, and strong faith have been a tremendous source of inspiration to many Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office deputies and employees as well as the officers from around the nation involved in the Summit Program; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Chaplain Tim Eldred on being named the National Sheriff’s Association Chaplain of the Year and wish him all the best in the future.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Chaplain Tim Eldred on being named National Sheriff’s Association Chaplain of the Year 2012.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Chaplain Tim Eldred.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
