RESOLUTION NO. RS2012-397

A resolution approving a grant agreement from the National League of Cities to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Mayor’s Office of Children and Youth, for the Cities Combating Hunger through the Afterschool Meals Program and appropriating grant funds to Second Harvest Food Bank to implement an afterschool meals program.

Whereas, the National League of Cities (NLC) has awarded the Cities Combating Hunger through the Afterschool Meals Program (CHAMP) grant in an amount not to exceed $19,700.00 with no cash match required to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Mayor’s Office of Children and Youth, to fund the purchase of equipment for an afterschool meals program; and,

WHEREAS, the Mayor’s Office of Children and Youth and Second Harvest Food Bank wish to enter into a subgrant agreement for the provision of afterschool meals at two Coleman Community Center and Litton Gym; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant award be accepted and the subgrant award be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the CHAMP grant by and between the National League of Cities, in an amount not to exceed $19,700.00 and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Mayor’s Office of Children and Youth, to fund the purchase of equipment for an afterschool meals program, a copy of which grant is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That the amount of this grant is to be appropriated to the Mayor’s Office of Children and Youth based on revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3. That the subgrant agreement by and between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Mayor’s Office of Children and Youth, to fund the purchase of equipment for an afterschool meals program, a copy of which subgrant is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
