RESOLUTION NO. RS2012-271
A resolution supporting state legislation moving the Davidson-Wilson County lines to make certain parcels currently in Davidson County a part of Wilson County.
WHEREAS, certain parcels of property located in Davidson County along the Wilson County line, as shown on the list attached hereto as “Exhibit A”, do not have adequate ingress and egress for emergency responders and school buses from within Davidson County; and
WHEREAS, Wilson County is geographically better equipped to provide these services to the residents; and
WHEREAS, T.C.A. § 5-2-104 provides that all applications for state legislation changing county lines shall be accompanied by a resolution approved by two-thirds (2/3) of the county commissions affected by such boundary line change; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan County Council support state legislation to move the Davidson-Wilson County line to make the properties identified on Exhibit A part of Wilson County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. In accordance with T.C.A. § 5-2-104, the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as supporting state legislation moving the Davidson-Wilson County line to make certain parcels currently within Davidson County, as shown on the attached Exhibit A, a part of Wilson County.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to each member of the Wilson County Board of Commissioners, as well as the Davidson and Wilson County Delegations to the Tennessee General Assembly.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
