RESOLUTION NO. RS2012-251
A resolution approving an application for the Governor’s Highway Safety Alcohol Saturation Grant from the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Police Department, to reduce traffic fatalities by enhancing DUI enforcement on weekends and some major holidays.
WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation, is accepting applications for the Governor’s Highway Safety Alcohol Saturation Grant in an amount not to exceed $399,888.58 with no cash match required; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the application for the Governor’s Highway Safety Alcohol Saturation Grant to reduce traffic fatalities by enhancing DUI enforcement on weekends and some major holidays, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Police Department is authorized to submit said grant application to the State of Tennessee, Department of Transportation.
Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
