RESOLUTION NO. RS2012-240

A resolution honoring Robert “Principal boB” Wilson on the occasion of his retirement after a distinguished career.

WHEREAS, Robert Wilson, affectionately known to his students, parents and teachers as "Principal boB" is retiring after more than a decade of service as Executive Principal of the Nashville School of Arts (NSA); and

WHEREAS, boB began his academic career as a teacher in Alexandria, Virginia prior to moving to Nashville where he taught at Hattie Cotton and Ross Elementary and then served as Assistant Principal at Head Middle before becoming Executive Principal at Bellevue Middle for eight years; and

WHEREAS, in 2001, boB was appointed to his dream job as Executive Principal of Nashville School of Arts and his outstanding work there was acknowledged by being named 2008 High School Principal of the Year in the Metro School District; and

WHEREAS, boB Wilson has been heavily involved in community education initiatives through organizations including, The Frist Center, TPAC, Country Music Hall of Fame and The Lincoln Center; and

WHEREAS, he is well-known for his fanatic devotion to the Beatles and his life-long dream of being a “rock star”; and

WHEREAS, NSA, under his caring and thoughtful leadership, has grown and developed a national reputation fulfilling Principal boB’s constant claim that NSA is “The Greatest School on the Planet”; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council goes on record joining legions of NSA students and families and his many coworkers and friends, to congratulate and honor Principal boB Wilson on his distinguished career and to wish him well on the “Long and Winding Road” of his future endeavors.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring Robert “Principal boB” Wilson on the occasion of his retirement after a distinguished career.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. boB Wilson.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
