SUBSTITUTE RESOLUTION NO. RS2012-225

A Resolution requesting Mayor Dean and Metro Water Services to designate as a priority capital project the installation of a 6” water main on Brandau Road from Central Pike to its intersection with Hoggett Ford Road.

WHEREAS, water lines represent an extremely vital part of the public infrastructure serving Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, Brandau Road is a public corridor approximately 5,840.92 feet, or 1.1 mile, in length extending from Central Pike; and

WHEREAS, Brandau Road is currently served by only a 2” water main which will not accommodate the installation of fire hydrants; and

WHEREAS, Brandau Road includes 9 residential parcels totaling 116.79 acres, 6 industrial operations totaling 34.26 acres and 2 agricultural parcels totaling 8.48 acres; and

WHEREAS, Brandau Road requires the installation of fire hydrants to provide adequate fire protection for its wide variety of land uses; and

WHEREAS, a 6” water main is required to allow for the installation of fire hydrants; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Government install the necessary 6” water main and install fire hydrants to protect the taxpaying residents of Brandau Road.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Mayor and Metro Water Services to designate as a priority capital project in the next capital spending plan the installation of a 6” water main on Brandau Road from Central Pike to its intersection with Hoggett Ford Road.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to Mayor Karl Dean and to the Director of Metro Water Services.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
