RESOLUTION NO. RS2012-223

A resolution approving an intergovernmental agreement between the State of Tennessee, by and through the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through The Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department, describing the partnership and responsibilities of each party.

WHEREAS, the intergovernmental agreement between the State of Tennessee, by and through the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security, and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through The Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department, attached hereto, specifies the parties’ roles and responsibilities with regard to fire services; and,

WHEREAS, the parties want to improve communication and coordination; manage, analyze, fuse, tailor and disseminate applicable information to the fire services of Tennessee; and, encourage suspicious activity reporting to the Tennessee Fusion Center (TFC) from the fire services; and,

WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated Section 12-9-104 provides that intergovernmental agreements between the State of Tennessee and political subdivisions of the State of Tennessee may be approved by resolution; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the interest of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this intergovernmental agreement be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the intergovernmental agreement between the State of Tennessee, by and through the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security, and the Metropolitan Government, by and through the Nashville Fire Department, describing the parties’ roles and responsibilities with regard to fire services; a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
