RESOLUTION NO. RS2012-174

A resolution recognizing and congratulating the Metropolitan Department of Information Technology Services for its efforts leading to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County being named a “Top 3 Digital City Government”.

WHEREAS, on November 2, 2011, e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government and Digital Communities Program announced that Metropolitan Nashville took the third spot in the 10th anniversary Digital Cities Survey; and

WHEREAS, the Digital Cities Survey, which was open to all U.S. cities with a population of 30,000 or more, examines the operating efficiencies cities realize through the use of technology in a time of budgetary constraints; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Department of Information Technology Services (ITS), led by Director Keith Durbin, has been involved in achieving such operating efficiencies through the use of technology in the Nashville Area Zone Alliance (NAZA), the Emergency Communication Center’s computer-aided dispatch system, and the map-based Development Tracker program found on the Metropolitan Government website; and

WHEREAS, Metro ITS was recognized for its efforts at an awards ceremony concurrent with the National League of Cities annual conference in Phoenix, Arizona on November 11, 2011; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Metro ITS for the outstanding work done by the department to save taxpayer money by increasing the operating efficiencies of the government.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating the Metropolitan Department of Information Technology Services for its efforts leading to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County being named a “Top 3 Digital City Government”.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Keith Durbin, the Director of the Department of Information Technology Services.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
