RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-79

A resolution approving an application for a grant from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Southern Off Road Bicycling Association (SORBA), for the construction of two mountain bike trails in Cane Ridge and Bells Bend Parks.

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is accepting grant applications for the construction of mountain bike trails; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation is partnering with the SORBA to apply for this grant wherein SORBA will be the award recipient of $38,858.69 and provide the required match of $9,714.67; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation will work with SORBA to construct a mountain bike trails in Cane Ridge Park and Bells Bend Park; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant application of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Southern Off Road Bicycling Association, for the construction of mountain bike trails in Cane Ridge and Bells Bend Parks, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation is authorized to submit said grant application to the State Department of Environment and Conservation.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
