RESOLUTION NO. RS2011-76

A resolution electing three members to the Board of Directors of the Industrial Development Board of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan County Council has, pursuant to Chapter 53 of Title 7 of the Tennessee Code Annotated, as amended, duly authorized and approved the establishment of The Industrial Development Board of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, T.C. A., § 7-53-301, as amended, provides that all members of the Board of Directors shall be elected by the governing body of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, due to three vacancies on said Board of Directors, it is necessary that the vacancies be filled by election of the Metropolitan County Council; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Rachel Bell was nominated by Lonnell Matthews; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Ginger Hausser was nominated Burkley Allen; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Richard L. Fulton was nominated by Chris Harmon; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Sharon Hurt was nominated by Jerry Maynard; and

WHEREAS, Mr. J. R. Herrell was nominated by Karen Johnson; and

WHEREAS, Col. Robert Whitworth was nominated James Bruce Stanley; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Geric Smith was nominated by Steve Glover; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Gray Sasser was nominated by Ronnie Steine; and

WHEREAS, an election has been conducted pursuant to the Rules of Procedure of the Metropolitan County Council of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County on November 1, 2011, resulting in the election of Ginger Hausser, Richard L. Fulton, and Sharon Hurt to said positions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

SECTION 1. Ginger Hausser, who is an elector of and taxpayer in the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and who is not an officer of or employed by the Metropolitan Government, is hereby elected a director of the Industrial Development Board of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to fill a term ending August 23, 2017; provided, however, that if at the expiration of said term of office of Ginger Hausser, a successor thereto shall not have been elected, then such person whose term has so expired shall nevertheless continue to hold office until a successor shall be so elected.

SECTION 2. Richard L. Fulton, who is an elector of and taxpayer in the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and who is not an officer of or employed by the Metropolitan Government, is hereby elected a director of the Industrial Development Board of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to fill a term ending August 23, 2017; provided, however, that if at the expiration of said term of office of Richard L. Fulton, a successor thereto shall not have been elected, then such person whose term has so expired shall nevertheless continue to hold office until a successor shall be so elected.

SECTION 3. Sharon Hurt, who is an elector of and taxpayer in the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and who is not an officer of or employed by the Metropolitan Government, is hereby elected a director of the Industrial Development Board of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to fill a term ending August 23, 2017; provided, however, that if at the expiration of said term of office of Sharon Hurt, a successor thereto shall not have been elected, then such person whose term has so expired shall nevertheless continue to hold office until a successor shall be so elected.

SECTION 4. All Resolutions, or parts thereof, in conflict with the provisions of this Resolution are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.

SECTION 5. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
